Bargarh, Nov 2: A team of agriculture experts from the state capital Thursday visited Bargahrh. The team led by Pramod Kumar Mohanty, deputy director of agriculture (standard checking) raided a pesticide shop at private bus stand here, checked the pesticides and documents and collected samples after meeting the collector Khagendra Kumar Padhi.
Similarly, two shops selling pesticides at Saharatikra under Bheden block and at Rengalicamp under Attabira block were raided and sample collected.
“To ascertain the quality and originality of the pesticides, the collected samples will be sent to laboratories in as well as those outside the state,”said Mohanty.
He also said that the fake pesticides can not only be attributed to this pest attack. The use of wrong type of pesticides also helps ‘chokoda’ insects to grow in numbers. Most cases farmers use several varieties of insecticides, which is not proper. He also pointed out that there must be a gap of 1 meter between the crops so that they can have the benefits of sun rays and helpful in containing the growth of insects.
