Bhubaneswar, Sept 3: The Commissionerate Police will start a drive to sensitise school students about the dangers of MOMO Challenge, the online game that leads the player to kill himself or herself.
The initiative will start along with the ‘Know Your Police’ campaign at the schools this week.
An engineering student from Odisha fell victim to the game and committed suicide by jumping off a hospital’s sixth floor in Chennai August 22. The police Saturday confirmed that the youth took the extreme step on the instructions of the online game operators.
Following the tragedy, Odisha police issued an advisory asking teachers and parents to keep a close watch on their wards. The Crime Branch Monday also tweeted an awareness video on the fatal game by Mohak Meet on popular video sharing platform, YouTube. “Take care of your children. Watch out their behavior and issues. Befriend with them,” warned Crime Branch through its tweet.
In another tweet it also warned, “Don’t meddle with her. She is dangerous, dirty and disastrous to your life.”
Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police will begin the special drive, ‘Know Your Police,’ in the twin cities during which police will try to dispel fear about the force from the minds of the students. The drive will target the students from Class VI to XII. Besides, invitation to students to visit police stations and lock ups, the students will also have interactions with the police.
