Kalahandi: A jawan was killed and five persons were seriously injured in two road mishaps in this district Tuesday . The Jawan, Laxmi Rout, died and another biker suffered serious injuries in a head-on collision between two motorcycles on a bridge over Tel river near Golamunda.
Rout died on the spot. Locals rushed him to the Dharmagarh government hospital. Rout was heading for Dharmagarh from Brundabahal village to attend a relative’s wedding. The two vehicles collided head-on, police said.
In the second incident, four persons – two men, a woman and a two-year-old child-were critically injured as an auto rickshaw ferrying them overturned on Tere Naam Ghati near Bhatangpadar. According to eyewitnesses, the auto driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn.
The victims were rescued by the locals and rushed to the district hospital.
