Sambalpur: Normal life came to a standstill in Ulunda of Sambalpur district following a 12-hour bandh observed by Ulunda Yuva Sangathan, protesting against the poor state of public healthcare system in the area.
Almost all shops, markets and other business establishments remained shut while vehicular movement was disrupted in the locality.
The agitators held demonstrations and road blockades at different places to press for their demand, which was also supported by the locals and traders.
“Shortage of doctors at Ulunda hospital has badly affected healthcare services in the locality. Though the matter has been taken up with the district administration on several occasions, no steps have so far been taken to improve the situation,” one of the protesters alleged.
