Keonjhar: The Flag Foundation of India Monday installed its 175th monumental National Flag at the Kasia Iron and Dolomite Mines of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) in Keonjhar.
The 72-foot flagpole, bearing a 16×24-foot Tricolour, was inaugurated by Naveen Jindal, Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra, President of the Flag Foundation of India, and Chairman of JSP.
“The National Flag represents unity, dignity and our collective aspirations,” Jindal said at the ceremony.
He invoked the blessings of Maa Tarini and Mahaprabhu Shri Baladev Jew for regional prosperity and paid tribute to local freedom fighters, including Dharanidhar Bhuyan, Dharanidhar Nayak, Ratna Nayak, and Madan Patnaik.

Jindal also noted with pride that Keonjhar is the birthplace of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Describing Odisha as his “karma bhoomi,” Jindal reaffirmed the company’s commitment to uplifting local communities through the Jindal Foundation. He urged underprivileged girls to enrol in the Foundation’s Yashasvi Programme for higher education. Prominent social worker and former sarpanch KB Palai praised JSP’s efforts in health care, education, agriculture, culture and sports.
Since its launch in 2009 under Jindal’s leadership, the Flag Foundation has installed 175 monumental flags across India, including nine in Odisha.
Prashant Hota, JSP’s President and Group Head of CSR & Education, led the event, supported by the CSR and Corporate Communication teams.
Unit Head Pramod Kumar Patra highlighted Kasia Mines’ role in employment and regional development. Senior company officials and community leaders also attended the ceremony.
