Berhampur: Police Saturday arrested two persons in connection with the murder of 24-year-old MBA student, Jitendra Pradhan.
The accused were identified as Pravanjan Tripathy, a business partner of Jitendra, and his aide Bansidhar Gouda.
An anonymous letter and guilty conscience of one of the accused helped the police crack the case. Hinting at the murder, the letter revealed the place where Pradhan’s body was buried and the names of the persons involved in the crime.
Based on the clues, police looked for the body and a motorcycle. While the two-wheeler was found buried inside Kiriamba forest, the decomposed body of Pradhan was retrieved from a water body in the same forest after 20 days.
Based on the names written on the letter, police arrested the two accused. During interrogation, Gouda confessed to have sent the anonymous letter to the police and helped Tripathy in disposing of the body.
Financial dispute is the main reason behind the murder as Pradhan and Tripathy had started a poultry farm at Bhogara, police said. Pradhan was studying in a private college in Bhubaneswar and had invested Rs 2 lakh in the farm. Tripathy used to manage the business and often bungled the funds.
This created a rift between the two. Pradhan came to the village August 26 and was scheduled to return to Bhubaneswar August 28 after asking his money back. He had told his mother that he would return home after collecting the money from Tripathy, but went missing, the police said.
