Udala: Villagers and the uncle of a girl tied two persons to a tree and thrashed them severely for allegedly molesting a girl at Bighi near Udala of Gopabandhu Nagar block in Mayurbhanj district Wednesday.
After promising the girl to drop her at uncle’s residence, two persons took her out of the home on a motorcycle and allegedly misbehaved and molested.
The matter came to light when the minor girl reached her uncle’s house and narrated her ordeal.
Fumed over the incident, her uncle and other villagers thrashed the accused persons.
According to reports, the victim of Sainkula area near Khunta opted to go to her uncle’s house Tuesday. However, her distant uncle and his associate promised the girl to drop her at uncle’s house and took her on a motorcycle.
However, on the way to her uncle’s house, they allegedly tried to outrage the modesty of the girl.
Later, they dropped her near uncle’s house and fled the spot.
Later, the accused persons visited the village again but the relatives of the girl and local people tied the former to a tree and beat them up black and blue.
On receipt of information, police reached the spot and rescued them.
Though no written complaint against the duo has been lodged yet, police have detained them.
Udala police station IIC Sanatan Sahoo said: “We are investigating into the matter and strict action will be taken against the wrongdoers.”
