Balangir: Two minor boys died as they were struck by lightning at Uding village under Belpada police limits in the district Monday. The two were Ishwar Bhoi and Paramanand Bhoi.
Locals said heavy rain accompanied by gusty surface winds triggered by Nor’wester hit the village around 8am Monday. After the rain subsided, the two boys went to collect mangoes fallen in the rain. While doing this, they were struck by lightning.
Police sent the bodies for autopsy. A case of unnatural death was registered and necessary compensation was promised to the two bereaved families.
