2 missing kids rescued from Bhadrak railway station

Bhubaneswar: Childline officials rescued two minor kids — who were missing from Chirgottola slum of Infocity area near KIIT here – from the Bhadrak railway station Monday.

The kids were reportedly crying in a train and were on their way to their uncle’s place.

The kids Raja (10) and Debjani (6) had gone missing June 16. Based on a complaint by Debjani’s father, police had launched a probe to trace the two children.

The Commissionerate police had earlier declared prize money to anyone who would provide information about the two.

“Yes, the Childline officials in Bhadrak have rescued the two children from a train. The District CWC will co-ordinate with the police and a team will go to get back the children,” confirmed YB Khurania, police commissioner, Twin City.

“It is yet to be ascertained as to how and why the kids left their houses. It is only after proper investigation we will find whether they were kidnapped, fell into a trap by some miscreants, or just ran away from home,” he added.

“As soon as we shared the information on our portal regarding the missing children, we were notified by the Bhadrak Childline that they had rescued both the kids from a train. The kids were crying when a vigilant onlooker called Bhadrak Childline and the children were rescued,” CWC member Benudhar Senapati said, adding that the process to bring back the children has already been initiated by the police and the Childline. Their parents have also been informed.
