Bhubaneswar: Fresh cases of fraud against conman Ramesh Swain came to the fore Sunday. The serial imposter duped around 17 women of lakhs of rupees in different states after marrying them.
The commissionerate police Sunday came to know about two more cases of cheating by the accused.
Sanjay Kumar Das of Phuleswari slum lodged a complaint with the Bharatpur police accusing Swain of taking Rs 13 lakh from him in installments promising to arrange a job for him in either AIIMS Bhubaneswar or Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited.
Swain promised Das to get him a job after returning from New Delhi. He was allegedly paid Rs13 lakh by the victim in 2021.
However, he neither arranged the job nor returned the money. Swain also duped lakhs of rupees from a person from Kolkata by posing as a central government official.
The man contacted commissionerate police and claimed Swain purchased a hatchery machine from the Kolkata-based businessman without paying any money.
