Jeypore: The much-awaited City Bus service in Koraput district would be launched Thursday with the Chief Minister scheduled to flag off the service from Bhubaneswar via video conferencing.
In the first phase, 20 buses would ply on 54 routes of the district, RTO sources said. Apart from bus services, the Chief Minister would inaugurate a drinking water tank here at Parabedha at a special programme through video conferencing.
The district administration has put up a large white screen at the programme site in which live video of Chief Minister inaugurating the projects would be beamed. Soon after, the buses would start moving to their respective destinations, officials said.
The buses will originate from OSRTC bus terminal of the town, according to a decision taken by the administration.
People in the district are in a state of joy over the bus service — a long-standing demand of people. PNN
