Paralakhemundi: Police Sunday evening arrested three youths in connection with the murder of Chipur Sanjeev of Bhupatilaxmipur village under this police limits in Gajapati district.
The main accused have been identified as Venu Gopal while the other two were his brother-in-laws. Acting on a tip-off, a police team arrested them from Hyderabad where they were seeking shelter. Meanwhile, another accused involved in the case is still missing.
Extramarital affair was the reason of the fallout of the murder, Amulya Kumar Das, Gajapati SP revealed the whole incident at a press meet held in his office.
According to the case diary, the incident occurred while Sanjeev on a motorbike was on his way to the court in Paralakhemundi to attend hearing of a case along with his wife.
Meanwhile, one of the accused stopped them half-way on the pretext of petrol. Soon after, another youth threw chilli powder on Sanjeev’s eyes and hit his head with a stick. When Sanjeev fell off the motorcycle, the two attacked him with a sharp weapon killing him on the spot.
The sword, stick and chilli powder filled bag were seized their possession. Das informed Das that adultery was reason behind the murder. Sanjeev was in an extramarital affair with a relative girl of the accused persons that led to his death.
