Odagaon: Three bikers were killed Tuesday afternoon when two motorcycles collided head-on near the Godipali petrol pump on State Highway 21 under Model (Adarsha) police limits in Nayagarh district.
The deceased were identified as bullet rider Mohan Barik, 28, of Chemedi village under Banthapur panchayat under the police limits, Santosh Kumar Routray, 35, of Kendrapara and his cousin Silu Nayak, 24, of Karasingh village in neighbouring Ganjam district.
According to police, Mohan was riding his bullet (OD 25Q 9285) towards Komanda via Baghua Square when it crashed into the oncoming motorcycle (OD 29D 2448) carrying Santosh and Silu, who were returning to Karasingh after shopping at Karasingh market.
Eyewitnesses said the impact was so severe that all three riders were flung nearly 10 feet into the air before crashing on the road. They died on the spot. Fire service personnel shifted the bodies to the local hospital, where doctors confirmed their deaths. Police registered a case 307/25, seized both vehicles and three mobile phones, and launched an investigation.
