Cuttack: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Orissa, has put in place a three-tier anti-malpractice system for the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination beginning Monday.
BSE has formed 50 flying squads to check malpractices in the HSC examination across the state, according to sources. “Each squad will have two officials from BSE. We have recently organised a training camp for the officials to familiarise them with the anti-malpractice measures and laws,” BSE president Dakhyaprasad Nanda said.
“We will file FIRs against persons encouraging and facilitating malpractice in the HSC examination,” a BSE official said.
District education officers (DEOs) have also constituted 54 special squads to check malpractices in the HSC examination, according to sources in BSE. “We have also asked all district administrations to form their own anti-malpractice squads for the examination,” said the BSE official.
BSE authorities have asked students to enter examination halls by 8.15 am, at least 45 minutes before the examination, which is to start at 9 am everyday and continue till 11.40 am. “The examination for mathematics papers will continue till 11.55 am,” the official said.
Authorities have set up a control room at the BSE headquarters to provide information to students, parents and teachers. Around 10 employees have been engaged to man the control room, sources said. “Students, parents and teachers can contact the control room on phone numbers (0671) 2412059 and (0671) 2412060 to resolve queries between 7 am and 8 pm every day,” Nanda said.
Around 6 lakh students will take this year’s HSC examination in 2,882 designated centres across the state from February 22 to March 4, according to sources. BSE authorities have established 305 nodal centres for the safe storage of question papers.
