Rayagada: Misled by rumours on social media platforms, crowd beat up four unidentified persons in different areas of Jemadeipentha near Seshkhal, Koraput Chhak, Mankadjhola and Majhiguda in Kalyansinghpur block suspecting them to be child-lifters.
Police rescued the four, treated them at a hospital and taken later to the police station to ensure their safety. Rayagada SP Rahul PR requested the residents not to indulge in such attacks based on rumours. Instead, suspects should be handed over to the police for a fair investigation.
