Bargarh, Oct 18: Senior officials here Sunday four policemen including a havildar in connection with the incident where two undertrials absconded from the police custody on way to the Baragarh sub-jail here.
The names of the suspended policemen were given as havildar Shiba Prasad Dora, constables Gopal Seth, Sachidananda Mohapatra and S Barla.
Meanwhile, police has failed to nab the absconding prisoners despite launching an extensive manhunt over the last two days.
The action came following two undertrial prisoners of the Bargarh sub-jail here gave a slip to the police and escaped from custody while returning from court after recording their appearance Friday.
Accused Dillip Sahu of Katapali village under Town police limits and Amit Mallick of Katkiapada in Bargarh town were lodged in the jail following their arrest in a host of dacoity and loot cases.
They along with 13 others were brought in a van to the court where they registered their appearance before the magistrate.
Later, they were taken back to the prison where they escaped as soon as they got down from the van outside the jail. Eyewitnesses claimed that Dillip had been handcuffed while the handcuff had slipped out of Amit’s hand.
