Padmapur: Following heavy rains due to cyclonic storm, several rivers like Dhala, Mantei, Knchudi and Gamhei have swollen with flood water, leaving people in riparian pockets in Bhadrak panicked.
Farmers were worried over apprehension that thousands of hectares of land will be inundated in Sugo, Kusunbindha, Kalyanpur, Padmapur, Kapagadia, Sartarpur, Rukunadeipur, Bandhasahi, Dadhibamanpur, Sunabhuin, Dangamal, Mishrapur, Edatal and Lunga.
Heavy rains continued in upper reaches of the rivers causing more water influx into the river. On the other hand, rain water fails to drain out into the sea as the later remained choppy. Farmers pointed out that this is the time of paddy flowering and if water enters the farmland, it will spoil the harvest.
