Bhuban: A four-year-old boy died of suffocation while a six-year-old was left in a critical condition after the two were locked inside a car at Anala village under this block in Dhenkanal district Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Rishi Nayak, son of Narayan Nayak. The other boy was Subham, son of Dhaneswar Nayak.
The incident occurred when the children got inside a car to play when the family members were busy welcoming guests to the marriage of Rishi’s uncle’s daughter. A pall of gloom descended on the village after reports of the death spread.
According to family members, the two kids entered into the car of a guest to play during the marriage function. They were trapped inside the car after its doors got auto-locked.
Later, family members searched for them and rescued the two after two hours. They were rushed to a hospital where a doctor pronounced Rishi dead and admitted Subham for treatment. However, no complaint was lodged in the police station when reports last came in.
