Chhendipada: A four-year-old boy was killed and his eight-year-old friend was injured when the compound wall of the latter’s house caved in on them after being hit by a JCB earth moving equipment in Tubay village near National Highway-55 under Jarpada police limits in Angul district Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Aditya Pradhan, son of Jogesh Pradhan. The injured is Sourav Pradhan, son of Pintu Pradhan. The two were playing near the wall when the incident occurred. Family members rushed them to the district headquarters hospital where Aditya succumbed to his injuries.
The earth mover was on its way to Angul from Jarpada when it skidded off the road and rammed the compound wall after the driver lost control on the wheels. Jarapada police handed over the body to the family members after post-mortem and seized the vehicle. The driver is absconding.
