Bhubaneswar, March 21: Forty eight players are leading the pack with two points each after the end of the second round of the VIth Bhubaneswar All India Fide Rating (below 16000) chess championships, which got underway here Monday. Thirty players are in joint second position with 1.5 points apiece. There are 12 participants from Orissa among the 276 contestants from 12 states.
Important results (2nd round): Subhadarshan Behera bt Shyam Panigrahi; Vibhash Kumar Sinha bt Samir Kumar Saha; Bishal Patnaik bt A Ramakrishna; Harshit Ranjan Sahoo bt Vishal Gaikwad.
Arm Wrestling meet
Charan Nayak emerged champion in the men’s 55 kg category of the Orissa Arm Wrestling Championships at the Kalinga Gymnasium in Cuttack, Sunday. Shankar Kahali finished runner-up, while Gyanaranjan Nayak stood third.
