Cuttack: Five persons, including a liquor trader, have been arrested for allegedly killing a man at Talabania in Jagatpur area and buried the body in the Mahanadi riverbed.
There was a a scuffle between Shiva Singh (35), the deceased, and Sania Singh (30) over an issue when the former went to the latter’s liquor shop July 29 around 9.30 pm, police said.
Losing his cool, Sania hit Shiva’s head with a broken piece of asbestos as a result of which he fell unconscious. Later, Shiva went home after gaining consciousness.
The same night, Sania informed about the matter with his four friends about the scuffle following which all of them reached Shiva’s house and allegedly beat him to death.
Next morning, they took the body to Mahanadi riverbed in Jagatpur and buried it there.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the family members of the deceased, police started investigation into the incident and exhumed the body from the spot.
