Angul: Police detained a 50-year-old man on charges of raping a five-year-old girl at a village near Bantala in Angul district.
According to sources, the accused Arttatrana Behera lured the victim by offering her a chocolate when she was playing with her friends outside her house. Later, he took her to a secluded under-construction house and allegedly committed the crime. The man was in an inebriated state, reports said.
After the incident came to the fore, villagers nabbed Arttatrana and handed over him to police. The accused and the victim have been sent for medical examination.
