Boudh: The District Education Officer (DEO) of Boudh has issued show-cause notices to 56 government schools after they failed to serve mid-day meals (MDM) to students on Independence Day despite clear instructions from the state government.
According to reports, meals were not distributed in 15 schools under the Boudh block, 33 schools in the Harabhanga block, and eight schools in the Kantamal block.
The state government had directed all schools to ensure the provision of MDM Independence Day, August 15, and the DEO had circulated the order to nodal officers in advance.
The errant schools have been asked to submit explanations within seven days.
They must also provide dry rations for the missed meals through the School Management Committees (SMCs) and submit photographic or video evidence as proof of compliance.
