1) Visit St. Peter’s Basilica

St. Peter’s Basilica, located in Vatican City, is the world’s largest church and has been at the centre of Roman Catholic worship for centuries. Its dome rises up from a long triangular base to a spectacular height, measuring 136 feet from ground level. The interior is decorated with mosaics, marble, gold, and bronze. In addition to being an architectural masterpiece, it also houses the tomb of Pope John Paul II and paintings by Michelangelo. When you are driving Italy vespas around here you will realise just how magnificent the country really is.

2) See Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper

Leonardo da Vinci’s painting The Last Supper has been acclaimed for its vivid expression of emotion and the brilliance of its execution. It is recommended you put this painting at the top of your list when planning a trip to Milan. The museum provides free audio guides that you can rent in many languages including English, which will help you understand more about the details and context of this famous work.

3) Walk the Via deiCoronari

The walk of Via deiCoronari is one of the most picturesque streets in Rome and a popular destination for tourists. The name Via deiCoronari dates back to mediaeval times when the road was lined with the workshops of silk merchants and their product–robes. Today, it’s known as Silk Street and still has some shops that sell all sorts of textiles including dresses, scarves, hats, handbags, shoes, gloves, and so much more. Walk down this street to admire the colourful array of goods from different regions like Sicilia or Lazio.

4) Watch a show at Teatro Argentina

Teatro Argentina is a stunning theatre and opera house located in the historic Via de’ Filiati in Rome. After opening in 1731, it underwent an extensive and careful restoration that left the building as one of the finest examples of 18th-century architecture anywhere. The modernised state-of-the-art opera theatre can seat up to 1,500 people during each performance.

5) Enjoy live music at EnotecaCorsi

EnotecaCorsi is a relaxed osteria-style restaurant and wine bar where you can enjoy live music, a vast selection of wines, hearty traditional food and a modern take on pizza. Founded in 2002 by Carlo Enoteca, the cellar holds 5500 bottles from all over the world. It is considered one of the most beautiful wine bars in Florence. The best seats are on the terrace overlooking Piazza dellaSignoria. Make sure to order their house specialty: panzanella – bread salad with tomato, cucumber, green pepper, and onion tossed with balsamic vinegar and olive oil – it will fill your belly while leaving room for other delicious dishes.

6) Taste some gelato

For the lover of ice cream and gelato, the country that literally created it is a wonderland. Italy has amazing gelato in every colour, flavour, and texture you can imagine. The most popular flavours are pistachio and stracciatella, but there are tons of other delicious possibilities like lemon tart, biscotti-cookie cone, espresso with chocolate chips. In Rome, you can get spoonfuls of fresh fruit dipped in fresh whipped cream served with a small brioche bun for breakfast or treat anytime. Gelaterias are found on almost every corner in Italian cities and towns, so it’s hard not to stop by one of these shops at least once while you’re exploring. A step up from standard frozen yoghurt places, this dessert specialty is everywhere from Milan’s Duomo square to the Lido beaches along Venice’s Grand Canal. A perfect way to cool off during summer heat waves or satisfy your sweet tooth any time.
