Bhubaneswar, Jan 20: Around 615 students from Class I to Class XI were felicitated by Stewart School for securing more than 90 per cent marks in the final examination at a programme held as part of their annual day celebrations on the school premises, Tuesday.
School and mass education minister Debi Prasad Mishra, who graced the occasion as chief guest, congratulated the awardees for their outstanding academic performance.
“These students will go on to become successful individuals and will be counted among the gems of this school always. I also congratulate the teachers who have been the guiding force behind these future leaders,” said Mishra.
The students were selected for the 2013-14 academic session. Subhra Mishra was ranked topper for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Board -2013. She secured 97 per cent marks and was qualified to be called as topper for the 2013 session, while Sonam Priyadarshani Sahoo who secured 93.33 per cent also got into the league of toppers for the 2014 session.
“It is due to the grace of God that I was able to come up with this achievement. I’m really honoured and privileged to have such good teachers who consistently imparted quality education in an easy-to-learn manner. My parents were my source of inspiration,” said Sahoo.
Gyan Ranjan Das, Prasanjeet Rath, Pritam Mishra, Akankshiya Arunima, Soumya Dikshit and Smruti Mishra are among the 615 students who scored more than 90 per cent marks in the exam.
About 650 students performed in various cultural programnmes to mark the annual day as well as the annual prize day. The cultural programmes were based on current issues of society, such as safety of the girl child and terrorism.
Several students based their performances on the cultural heritage of the state by showcasing Odissi performances in the evening.
