There is common thread that binds Shraddha Walker, Nikki Yadav and Megha Thorvi, the three women who were brutally murdered in different parts of India. All the three deceased women found their respective partners through various dating apps. This just goes to show that it is wrong to depend completely on dating apps as at times they do not give a clear picture of the person you fall in love with.

Shraddha’s horrific murder by Aftab Amin Poonawala shocked the entire nation last year. And then this year came the news of Nikki Yadav’s murder by Shahil Ghelot who stuffed her body inside the freezer of a dhaba. It was followed by the killing of Megha Thorvi who was murdered by her live-in partner Hardik Shah at Maharashtra’s Palghar. Thorvi was killed February 12 by Hardik, but the news of her death surfaced only a few days later as her body had been stuffed inside a mattress.

The three deaths can easily be termed as ‘Love-in Horror’ instead of ‘Live-in Relationship’. What started in love ended in horrific deaths of the three women who all were hard-working and earned substantially to lead a life without a partner. However, it is the longing for love that led to their horrific end.

In all the three cases, all the women were in a relationship for more than three years. They never thought that their partners possessed the minds of clod-blooded criminals. The way the three women were murdered and their bodies disposed of or hidden clearly portray the calculative mind of the accused. This cannot ever be judged by looking at the profile on dating Apps or even after mixing with a person for a lengthy time frame.

Shraddha, Nikki and Megha could have never imagined that they would be killed by their respective partners despite the numerous fights they had with their boyfriends. The actions of Aftab are more like a psychopath… a mad man. No one sane could probably have brought home another girl when Shraddha’s chopped body was stored in the refrigerator. It just goes to show the insanity hidden behind Aftab’s smiling face.

The nation is still reeling under the shock of the three horrific murders. However, amid all this there is a small reminder. Despite the world becoming a much smaller place due to various apps and social media platforms, those are not the last word. Before any relationship a girl/woman and vice-versa should verify the antecedents of their respective partners and do a proper research. Even if it is for a brief fling, one has to be careful, very careful indeed. No one knows where the next killer is lurking.
