Soro: In a shocking incident, another seven-year-old girl was raped during a marriage function at Purushottampur village under Anantpur panchayat of Soro police limits in Balasore district Sunday. The accused has been identified as Mahendra Mallick.
Sources said, the little girl had gone to attend a marriage function with her parents.
Taking advantage, the accused kidnapped the girl and took her to a secluded farmland where he forced himself upon her. Later, he convinced her not to reveal the incident to anyone and let her go home.
The matter came to the fore after the girl returned home and claimed of pain in her private parts. When her parents enquired, she narrated her ordeal before her family members who lodged a written complaint with the police.
Based on a complaint by the girl’s parents, police registered a case and arrested the accused. Further investigation into the incident was on. Keeping in mind the sensitivity of the case, the police remained tight-lipped and did not indulge further information.
“We have sent the victim and the accused for a medical examination after which the latter will be forwarded to the court,” Soro IIC Dilip Kumar Sahoo informed.
