Bhubaneswar, June 13: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday dedicated 80 pucca (concrete) houses to slum-dwellers of Mahisakhal at BJB Nagar and opened a railway over bridge (ROB) at Mancheswar level-crossing here.
“Provisioning safe shelter for homeless, inaugurated `47crore Mahishakhal slum cluster at BJB Nagar in #SmartCityBBSR,” Patnaik tweeted.
Housing and urban development (H&UD) officials said 80 pucca houses have been built in two blocks comprising 40 houses each. H&UD minister Pushpendra Singh Deo said the state has facilitated houses to slumdwellers of Mahiskhal as a rehab measure after evicting them. Plans are afoot to provide concrete houses to 760 more beneficiaries in 17 blocks. Mayor AN Jena said, “The houses have been built as per the electoral promises made to the people.”
