Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi Wednesday presented a report card of her seven-year tenure as a Member of Parliament, highlighting around 70 categories of development and public service initiatives undertaken across the constituency.
Sarangi said her office had received 23,478 public grievances from across the parliamentary constituency during her tenure, of which 20,661, or nearly 88 per cent, had been resolved.
Sarangi, who was elected to the Lok Sabha from Bhubaneswar for the first time in 2019, was re-elected in 2024.
In her seven-year report card, she highlighted initiatives covering roads and transportation, education, healthcare, drinking water, electricity, irrigation, sports, agriculture, urban infrastructure and cultural development.
Among the major infrastructure projects, she cited the sanctioning of a 111-km six-lane road from Rameswar, Khordha to Tangi, Kataka at an estimated cost of Rs 8,307 crore.
She also listed bypass projects at Khordha, Baghmara, Raj Sunakhala, Begunia and Pubu Sahi, expansion of the Palakandi bridge and infrastructure development along the Palakandi-Rasulgarh stretch.
The report card also mentioned 35 road projects approved by the state government, along with service roads, drains and other projects aimed at easing traffic congestion in City.
Seven flyovers worth around Rs 240 crore and 16 underpasses costing around Rs 186 crore were also highlighted.
In the railway and airport sectors, Sarangi pointed to infrastructure development at Biju Patnaik International Airport, renovation of Bhubaneswar, Mancheswar and Lingaraj railway stations, railway overbridges at Patia and Kalarahanga, and railway infrastructure at Atri, Sanpadar, Taraboi and Bolagada.
Education and healthcare were also among the key areas highlighted in the report card. Sarangi said eight block-level mothers’ libraries and coaching centres were being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 5.44 crore, along with 156 panchayat-level libraries costing around Rs 23.40 crore.
In the urban and livelihood sectors, she said a modern fish market and multiple vending zones were being developed at Pandara at an estimated cost of Rs 57 crore.
