Bhubaneswar: Sohini Sanjay Mohanty of Odisha finished runner-up in the girl’s U-12 AITA Super Series tennis tournament Saturday at Imphal. She lost in straight sets 4-6, 1-6 to Ika Raju Kanumuri of Telangana in the final.
Earlier in the semifinals, Sohini had shocked U-12 girl’s No.3 and top seed Durganshi of Delhi 6-1, 6-2. By virtue of her performance, Sohini picked up 40 AITA ranking points in singles.
Selection camp
Football Association of Odisha (FAO) will organise a trial camp in Cuttack, starting June 1 to select the state team for the upcoming All India Sub-Junior Girls’ Football Championships which is being organised by the AIFF. Interested players should contact FAO office immediately.
Coach selected
Eminent coach of Odisha, Subhendu Panda has been selected for a special football workshop to be conducted in Belgium under the guidance of Raymond Verhen of the Netherlands. Subhendu left for the venue Friday. Incidentally, Subhendu is the only Indian to have been selected for the workshop.
Titan, Fighters win
Tulasinagar Titan and Rajiv Fighters won their respective matches Saturday against their rivals in the Govind Memorial Bolangir Premier League cricket tournament at Bolangir.
In the first match, Titan triumphed over Sanvi Lions by 27 runs while in the second match Fighters defeated Royal Rider by seven wickets.
