Bhubaneswar: Minister of Culture Ashok Panda opened a four-day state art exhibition of OKMAX (Odisha Kala Mahavidyalaya Adhyapak O Karmachari Sangha) at the State Lalit Kala Academy’s regional centre in Bhubaneswar, Monday.
The exhibition showcases four major art college students’ works. Ten students were felicitated on the occasion. They were: Balasore Art College students Abanidra Kar, Sumil Tudu, Sundargarh’s Manoj Pradhan, Prajanma Paramita Behera, Dhauli Art and Craft College student Jyotiranjan Sahu, Prafulla Kumar Behera, Bhadrak Art College student Biswadarshi Das, Santosh Kumar Das, Guru Harekrushna Behera Laxmipriya Prusty and Anitarani Jena.
Among the eminent people present on the occasion included Ramkrushna Bedala, Manoj Bhattacharaya, Nikunja Bihari Das, Susanta Kumar Nayak.
Speaking on the occasion, Lalit Kala Academy’s president Padma Vibhushan Raghunath Mohapatra said: It’s the art college students who are the future face of Odisha’s art. Therefore every kind of encouragement should be given to them to enhance their art work and their future as an artist.”
He also stressed the need to organize more such exhibitions so that general people can witness great work being done by these budding artists.
Interacting with Orissa POST, Bhagyashree Pani, who has presented Buddha on canvas in acrylic, said: “It’s truly encouraging to participate in such a big exhibition and I am quite fortunate to showcase my work over here.” Many installations and art works were displayed throughout the gallery. The programme was curated by Panchanan Samal while Manoj Bhattacharya proposed a vote of thanks.
