Talcher: Police arrested four persons on the charge of raping a tribal girl here in Angul district Wednesday.
The accused were identified as Soubhagya Naik alias Bagha, Prasanna Naik alias Bhalu, Nahia Naik and Jogi Naik of Harijan Sahi. They were produced in a court and were remanded in judicial custody after their bail pleas were rejected.
The accused caught hold of the victim when she was talking with her male friend at a place behind the Talcher bus stand April 21. They assaulted her and her male friend.
Later, Soubhagya and Prasanna took turns on the girl while their other two friends stood guard at the place. Police registered a case over a complaint lodged by the victim and arrested the youths.
