Bhubaneswar: Jagatsinghpur emerged champions in both the boys’ and the girls’ segments of the 25th State Junior Ball Badminton Championships, which concluded Thursday at Puri.
In the boys’ category Kendrapara and Ganjam finished second and third positions respectively. In the girls’ segment Ganjam were second and Dhenkanal third.
Ayushman takes sole lead
Ayushman Mohanty of Puri emerged sole leaders with five points after the completion of the fifth round in the Open category of the Odisha State U-7 Chess Championship here Thursday. He is being followed by Aditya Bikram Mishra (4.5 points) of Khurda in sole second spot. Six players are tied for third place with four points each. In his fifth round match, Ayushman outwitted Pritam Ghosh of Cuttack.
In the Girls’ segment Sandeepa Priyadarshini Sahoo and Pratyasha Jena of Cuttack are sharing the joint top spot with 4.5 points apiece after the completion of the fifth round. In the fifth round Sandeepa signed peace with Pratyasha.
