Kendrapara: It’s time for the people of Nuagaon in Aul block of Kendrapara district to celebrate as a fellow villager’s daughter brought glory to their village and the district as well as the state by topping the JEE Advanced 2018 in Jharkhand. The family as well as villagers of Nuagaon were happy at
the success achieved by Prarthana Das, 17.
Prarthana is the daughter of Saroj Kumar Das and Kumkum Das. Saroj works as Director of the Institute for Integrated Rural Development (IIRD), New Delhi and her mother is a housewife. The family stays at Jamshedpur in Jharkhand.
Prarthana topped JEE Advanced 2018 in Jharkhand and was ranked 1975 in the All India Rank list of JEE Advanced 2018.
Saroj said, “My daughter is a meritorious student. From nursery to JEE Advanced, my daughter made us proud with her academic excellence as she always stood first in examinations.”
Prarthana , who was a student of Sacred Heart Convent School of Jamshedpur, secured 98.4 per cent in Class X and was Jharkhand state topper in ICSE 2016. She was topper in Class XII exams of the state. She scored 100 per cent in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science.
Prarthana appeared for BITSAT, ISI-Kolkata, NEST, IIT-Hyderabad, IISER & IISC-Bangalore and has qualified in all tests. “I am interested in studying in one of the five top IITs of the country”, said Prarthana.
Since childhood, Prarthana concentrated on her studies. “I knew that she would make the family proud,” said Kumkum Das, her mother. “The encouragement that I get from my father and the inspiration for doing well in academics from my elder brother, Sarthak Kumar Das, boosted my morale. Frankly speaking, my elder brother, Sarthak Kumar Das, who completed B.Tech from Sri Mata Vaisnav Devi University, Katra, and joined post graduation in IIT, Guwahati, is my role model. What I achieved today is due to my brother’s encouragement,” Prarthana said.
“Concentration and hard work are the mantras for my success. I am not a bookworm. I used to study six to seven hours a day, but when I study I concentrate on it,” said the girl. Her dream is to join IAS, said Prarthana’s father. Prarthana has won several medals in state and national quiz competitions and debates.
