Dhenkanal, Feb 21: Police Saturday claimed to have cracked the murder case of Amar Nayak of Sananadaba village under Sadar police limits whose body parts were recovered February 11 from a bore well of the village. Aparti Nayak alias Tuna, one of the 14 accused in the case, was arrested and produced in a court the same day.
Nayak was killed for terrorising the villagers and assaulting three on separate occasions, inspector-in-charge Truptimaya Nayak said.
Police sources said, family of Ananta Nayak of Sananadaba village had shifted to Mahulbareni village years ago after frequent fights with villagers over past enmity. Ananta’s son Amar attacked three villagers on different occasions in the past eight years. Cases were also registered against him, police said.
Meanwhile, one of Amar’s relatives had married a youth of Sananadaba village and he came to the village to have a quarrel with the youth February 6. As the news spread in the village, some villagers who were earlier attacked by Amar waylaid him. Though he tried to threaten the villagers with a weapon but one of the villagers shot his foot with a country made gun. The irate mob sliced his body into pieces as he fell down. Later, the parts of the body were put into a bore well. Amar’s father lodged a missing report with police and filed another complaint of kidnapping February 8. However, police recovered the body from the bore well February 11.
