Jharsuguda: A video clip of a young couple being harassed by a group of youths has been doing rounds in the social media in Jharsuguda district for a couple of days. But the police are yet to take action in this regard.
The video clip shows a group of masked youths harassing a student couple after finding them in a deserted place. While others kept teasing the love birds, one of them recorded the act on a mobile phone.
The miscreants could be seen snatching the couple’s mobile phones and searching their bags. Even though the girl could be seen pleading with them not to record the incident on mobile phone, the youths misbehaved with her and hurled abuses at her.
The anti-socials, in the video, can be heard speaking in Hindi and later some of them started talking in the Sambalpuri dialect. The victims are said to be the students of a reputed college in the district. However, no formal police complaint has been lodged by them, so far.
Meanwhile, conscious citizens of the area have demanded that the police should probe the matter suo motu and take action. A video clip of a similar incident in Bargarh had gone viral on the social media which triggered state-wide sensation. Later, police arrested eight youths in this connection.
