Angul: Tension ran high on the premises of Kalyani Nursing Home located in Angul Town Wednesday afternoon after a patient undergoing treatment, died after allegedly being administered ‘wrong injection’ by a nurse, reports said. The deceased has been identified as Pradeep Pradhan of Khalari village.
According to sources, family members of Pradeep had admitted Pradeep to the nursing home after his condition deteriorated due to some illness.
He was prescribed medicines and administered saline. A doctor attending him administered an injection after there was no improvement in his health. However, he died minutes after taking the injection.
Angry relatives of the deceased claimed that the doctor had carelessly administered a wrong injection that led to Pradeep’s death. Later, they resorted to a protest following the incident and alleged negligence on the part of the doctor.
The agitators then caused a road blockade on the National Highway by keeping the body and demanded action against the negligent medical staff.
After getting information, Angul police reached the spot and tried to pacify the protestors. Palpable tension continued at the spot till this report was filed.
It may be mentioned here that an ailing woman had also died two days back after she was given a wrong injection in Chandan Nursing Home in the same area.
