R. Udayagiri: At least three persons died after the truck they were travelling on skidded off the road and plunged into a 100-foot deep gorge at Badapur Chhak near R. Udayagiri police station in Gajapati district Friday.
While the driver of the vehicle has been identified as Narayan Reddy, the identity of the other two deceased is yet to be known.
According to reports, the relief materials-laden truck which was coming from Parlakhemundi plunged into the gorge when the driver of the vehicle lost control over the wheels. Three people including the driver died on the spot.
On receipt of information, fire service personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. Police have started an investigation into the incident.
