Malkangiri: A mentally-challenged lady Sunday morning delivered a baby girl on the road in front of integrated tribal development agency (ITDA) here. The irony was that local women hesitated to go near to the woman while she was suffering from pain. According to reports, the woman delivered a baby at Bandabaliguda in front of the ITDA office in the morning, however, no passersby took her to the hospital while she was screaming for help.
Meanwhile, the members of Team We Care, social outfits rushed to the spot and rescued the woman and the newborn. They also sent them to Malkangiri district headquarters hospital in an 108 ambulance. The woman was seen roaming in the town for few days ago while the exact identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained. However, it was found that she was registered at Jailsahi anganwadi centre. On the other hand, the condition of the woman and the newborn was good. The two are undergoing treatment at the DHH.
