post news network, Bhubaneswar, July 12: X-Seed, the idea and initiative cell of the Xavier’s Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, organised an interactive meet with some of the successful entrepreneurs of the country to discuss in details the prospects of a start-up, Sunday.
Many entrepreneurs, who assembled for the meet as guests, shared their experiences on how to go ahead while starting a new business and the difficulties often faced by the young entrepreneurs during the setting up of a start-up. The session also witnessed a lively interaction between the entrepreneurs and the students of the XIMB.
Anshu Gupta, the founder of Goonj, which works in the social sector, said, “Taking up challenges is often complex. But as people do not give up their relationships during troubled times, the budding entrepreneurs should also never give up during their days of struggle and should always work on to overcome obstacles and succeed. If people are determined, honest in their approach and passionate, they can achieve whatever they want.”
Gupta, however, made it a point to say that one need not think about venturing into the social sector only. “Not all entrepreneurs need to get into the social sector. There are many fields in which people can thrive and serve the country and the society. The businessmen, who also take something from the society, need to serve it in return,” he said.
Sebashish Mishra, a young entrepreneur and joint secretary of The Indus Entrepreneur (TIE), Bhubaneswar (which guides new entrepreneurs by giving them fresh ideas), said, “When I thought of giving up my corporate job and start something new, my relatives and people around me thought something is wrong with me and they tried every avenue to dissuade me from setting up my business after quitting a well-paying job. Only my father supported me and I pursued my passion. ” Mishra also said that 90 per cent of the start-ups fail in their initial days as people associated with it give up.
The meeting was also attended by Chandrashekhar Mishra, founder, Canyon Consultancy and Crux Power. He spoke about the days when he struggled to set up his business and eventually succeeded to overcome all obstacles. The budding entrepreneurs, indeed, felt inspired to live their dreams.
The organisers said that the event was part of their ongoing initiative to take guidance from the entrepreneurs. Sourav Paul, core member of the X-Seed said, “The event was part of the initiative taken by our club, which often organises interactive sessions between students and entrepreneurs to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge. We are looking forward to holding similar events in the future too.”
