Khurda: Excise sleuths and Model Police officials here, Friday, claimed to have recovered 36.07 gram of brown sugar and arrested three persons on charges of possessing the contraband.
“Apin Das of Angul and Basanta Jena of Keonjhar have been arrested during a raid at Saguan Bagicha. Around 20.07 gram of brown sugar worth around Rs 2.07 lakh has been recovered from the duo,” a senior Model Police official said, adding that a four-wheeler and a smartphone have also been recovered from them.
On the other hand, Excise sleuths raided Nua Bus Stand area in the noon and arrested Gyana Ranjan Khuntia of Cuttack’s Kishannagar. The sleuths claimed to have recovered around 16 gram of the contraband from Khuntia.
The three have been sent to judicial custody after their bail pleas were turned down by a local court here, said a police official.
