Bhubaneswar August 3: Residents of the capital city can soon order chicken and eggs online and obtain delivery within an hour.
This was announced Monday by agriculture, fisheries and animal resources development minister Pradeep Maharathy at the launch of an online portal of the Orissa State Poultry Products Cooperative Marketing Federation Ltd (Opolfed).
The portal has been named www.chickenfresh.com. Maharathy said the Opolfed products would be available online only in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation area on a pilot basis. Based on the response, the society would extend the home delivery facility to other cities in the state.The minister also launched a Facebook business page of Opolfed called www.facebook.com/opolfed.
Opolfed would charge Rs 50 for home delivery and the order should be for a minimum amount of Rs 500.
“With the launch of the portal, citizens of the capital city can order fresh and hygienic chicken at cheaper rates through the website,” Maharathy said.
Customers can avail the service between 9 am to 7 pm. Chicken meat with liver and gizzard is priced at Rs 130 per kg, chicken meat (breast piece) at Rs 140 per kg, chicken leg piece at Rs 150 per kg, desi chicken at Rs 420 per kg, eggs at Rs54 per dozen and desi eggs at Rs 30 per half dozen.
