Bhubaneswar: China is keen to invest in Orissa, having been encouraged by the new industrial policy resolution (IPR) 2015, industries minister Debi Prasad Mishra said here Wednesday.
“China is very keen to invest in the field of power generation, textiles, tourism, seafood, power sector equipment manufacturing and petrochemicals. After the Chinese new year (in February), a delegation from the country will visit Orissa to explore business opportunities,” Mishra said after a meeting with the Kolkata-based consul general of the People’s Republic of China, Ma Zhanwu.
A delegation from Orissa would also visit China to conduct a roadshow on the opportunities here, Mishra said.
The minister pointed out that the Chinese are already doing business here and have won a contract to work on a power plant. “There were trade links between China and ancient Orissa. We are trying to revive the ancient relationship,” he said. The state government is all set to extend support to the investors and would also provide further incentives, if required, after the approval of the cabinet,
he said.
“We are very encouraged by the new industrial policy of the state government. We keen to explore the opportunities available here. Chinese companies will be investing one trillion dollars outside China in the next five years and a part of that will come to the state,” Zhanwu said.
