Mayurbhanj: A man was beaten to death by his neighbour at Budhamara village under Rairangpur police limits in Mayurbhanj district Saturday evening.
The deceased and the accused have been identified as Sukesh Mohanta and Chandramohan Mohanta respectively.
According to a source, Chandramohan was returning from his farmland. As he was on his way home, Sukesh stopped him and a heated argument ensued between them over some issues. The scene turned ugly after Chandramohan started hitting Sukesh with a stick.
The accused kept on beating the victim till he collapsed on the ground motionless. Later he breathed his last. Chandramohan didn’t spare even Sukesh’s daughter-in-law. She ended up being beaten up while trying to rescue her father-in-law.
After getting information about the incident, a team from Rairangpur police station reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for postmortem. The cops have arrested the accused.
