Bhubaneswar: Odia diasporas living in countries across the globe have welcomed the new government in the state formed by BJP with Mohan Majhi as the Chief Minister.

Speaking to Orissa POST, Priyadarshee Panigrahi, a senior business management professional and a trained scuba diver who lives in Dubai (UAE), said,” It is a mandate for change. People have spoken out. We have a new government now. I am a firm believer of the concept of a welfare state, and also in the saying that ‘the government has no business to be in business’. He said he also wanted the new government to promote a healthy investment climate so that the private sector could come in droves and provide gainful employment to the people. “I do hope and urge the new government to take advantage of Odisha ‘s rich natural resources and promote value-added industries while ensuring balanced regional development,” he added.

Bhagyashree Singh, a musculoskeletal specialist based out of London, UK said, “As a British Indian and proud NRI Odia, I always love to be linked to my state and my language. I am born and raised in Bhubaneswar, and hence, that always holds a special corner in my heart.” Singh said since childhood she witnessed Naveen Patnaik as the only Chief Minister of Odisha. “He has a charisma which has impressed the world. However, change is only constant, and I believe Odisha elections has not only proved that Odias are the most responsible citizens, but also democracy is evidenced at its best in our state.“ She said the BJP government has made India touch the sky in the last few years. “We identify ourselves now as citizens of the most advanced country of South East Asia. Therefore I am very positive and hopefully with the new BJP government, and I am sure Odisha, under CM Majhi, will touch new highs,” Singh said.

Jayanta Rout, an IT professional settled in Texas, USA said change is always welcome if that has a positive impact. “So, after a long time, the government and chief minister have been changed. We hope we should see some rapid development in infrastructure, more job creation and rural push in the coming days.” The people Of Odisha have voted for a change, and this government should work for their betterment. And, if the government failed to deliver, the same people will go for change after 5 years, he said.

Sukant Sahu member of Odisha Society of UK said, “Odisha needed a change for a long time. Twenty-four years is big time for ruling any state,” he said. He had a word of praise for former chief minister Naveen Patnaik. “He had done a lot of good things, but still many thing needed to be done,” he said. “The BJP came to power in the state and I hope their government will fulfill the promises made earlier. I will hope the government make people capable and not cripple them with freebies. Odias must be given more opportunity in business and jobs than non-domiciles,” he added.
