Bhubaneswar: The state government has revised its guidelines for distribution of free laptops to meritorious Plus II students.
As per the revised guidelines, the meritorious Plus II students of Sanskrit (upa-shastri) from Shree Jagannath Sanskrit University and those from the vocational streams would also get free laptops from this year.
Earlier, students of only arts, science and commerce streams were made eligible for free laptops under the Biju Yuba Sashaktikaran Yojna, sources said Saturday.
The state government distributes at least 15,000 laptops among the meritorious Plus II students annually. In a related development, the state government has asked Plus II college principals to prepare lists of meritorious students for the scheme.
The government has set December 31 as the last date distribution of laptops among students. However, the government will prepare an additional list to provide laptops to the eligible students who have been deprived of the benefits in the first list.
