Baripada: Panic gripped Thakurmunda area in Mayurbhanj district following the appearance of a Royal Bengal Tiger in the area Wednesday. The big cat reportedly mauled two women at Mahuladiha Wednesday morning. They managed to survive the attack and were admitted to Anandapur hospital in a critical condition.
According to reports, a group of five women were tending cattle near Kanjiapal forest when the tiger came out of nowhere and attacked them, leaving two of them critical. The injured were identified as Gunjuri Sakhual (60) and Kuntala Nayak (55).
As the two screamed for help, villagers rushed to their rescue. On seeing the commotion, the tiger fled the scene. Villagers took the injured to the hospital. Gunjari’s condition is stated to be critical.
Following the incident, Mahuladiha police, Thakurmunda ranger, Satkosia ranger, and fire department officials visited the area. PNN
