Bhubaneswar: With the Khandagiri Kumbh Mela scheduled to commence from January 25, detailed discussions on preparations for the event took place during a zonal-level meeting of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) held Monday.
The South-West Zone meeting was chaired by Mayor Sulochana Das and attended by Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhar. All corporators of the South-West Zone, comprising 21 wards, were present.
Zonal Commissioner Rakesh Kumar Patro, along with other officials, also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Zonal Commissioner Patro presented a detailed status report on works completed and those pending for the Khandagiri Kumbh Mela.

Mayor Das directed officials to expedite and complete all remaining works at the earliest.
The meeting also reviewed ongoing developmental works across various wards. Corporators shared feedback on pending projects in their respective areas and discussed developmental activities planned for the coming days.
The issues discussed and decisions taken at the meeting will be placed before the upcoming Corporation meeting.
Highlighting the importance of zonal-level reviews, the Mayor said such meetings help address ward-level issues more effectively, adding that one zonal meeting will be held every month in each zone.
