New Delhi: Senior AAP leader Gopal Rai said Saturday said we will fill the jails, but the movement will continue as the party held a protest at its office here against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The AAP had also announced a protest at Jantar Mantar along with the CJP, but held its demonstration at the party office after Delhi Police denied permission for the protest and stepped up security deployment at several locations across the national capital, preventing people from reaching the protest site.
Leading the protest, Rai alleged that the country was witnessing a black emergency and said the detention of students and political leaders would not stop the agitation.
We will go to jail, fill the jails, but the movement will continue, Rai said.
They are detaining students and leaders. There will be protests across the country, and the jails will run out of space, he said, adding that the country had seen the consequences of authoritarianism in the past.
Protesters raised slogans such as Vote chor, gaddi chhor and Loktantra mein tanashahi nahi chalegi (No dictatorship in democracy).
AAP Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj said in a post on X that party workers were being detained by Delhi Police.
