Bhubaneswar: The School and Mass Education (S&ME) department has launched a state-wide initiative titled ‘Aasa School Jiba’ (Let us go to school) to curb the problem of school dropouts during the 2025–26 academic year.
As part of the campaign, special meetings involving parents, teachers, and school management & development committees (SMDCs) were held across the state.
The meetings aimed to reintegrate out-of-school children into the mainstream education system, ensure enrolment in age-appropriate classes, and prevent students from discontinuing their studies.
Preventive measures to overcome challenges hindering children’s education were also discussed.
During the sessions, parents took a ‘group pledge’ to cooperate with schools, ensure that no child is excluded from the education system, and contribute to building a safe, inclusive, and joyful learning environment that upholds every child’s right to education.
Senior officials of the S&ME department attended the meetings in various districts, monitoring the process and extending necessary guidance and support.
